It is because most of the families we are dealing with left the home countries in the 1700s. What I can tell you about the origins of the Lowland families participating, meaning the descendants of those that migrated from Ulster, is we have a lot of surnames from western Scotland; Wightown & Kirkcudbright (which I call Gallowayshire), Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, and I should have listed Renfrewshire also.
